Held for car theft

NEW DELHI: Two young men and a woman belonging to well-to-do families have been arrested by the North Delhi police on the charge of stealing a Maruti car. According to the police, the woman used to drive the car in order to escape getting noticed.

The trio were nabbed by the staff of Jharonda police post in Timarpur. The police personnel had become suspicious when they spotted another occupant of the car fleeing from the rear seat on seeing a police picket ahead. Subsequently, the staff noticed that the number etched on the windows of the car was different from the registration number plate.

The occupants of the car were questioned at length following which they allegedly confessed to having stolen the vehicle from Sant Nagar in North Delhi. The accused were later identified as Pooja Chopra (23), Rohit Kohli (24) and Rajesh Kumar (22). The fourth occupant, who managed to escape, has been identified as Ravi. He was allegedly the mastermind of the gang.
