Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to hand over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) the inquiry into the corruption cases against former Assembly Speaker Shriniwas Tiwari. This follows the recommendation of Justice Shachindra Dwivedi committee, which was appointed to investigate into ``gross misuse of administrative powers of the Speaker in administrative appointments and also the irregularities that stained the dignity of the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat,'' an official release said on Saturday. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the investigation was being handed over to the CBI on the recommendation of the Justice Shachindra Dwivedi committee. After preliminary inquiry into the alleged irregularities, the committee, headed by retired High Court judge Shachindra Dwivedi, recommended the state government to hand over the corruption cases against Mr. Tiwari to the CBI. The complaints against Mr. Tiwari include amassing wealth, misuse of his official position in appointments in different departments and allocation of funds to ineligible educational institutions. Mr. Tiwari is a senior Congress leader from Rewa and he was the Assembly Speaker when Digvijay Singh was the Chief Minister of the State for a decade. -- UNI
