CMs' meet on more dams on Yamuna

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had convened a meeting of Chief Ministers of six States in Delhi on March 1 to discuss the longstanding issues of construction of Keshau, Renuka and Lakhwar Vyasi dams on the Yamuna. He said the construction of these dams would bring more water to Haryana.

Mr. Hooda said that only 25 per cent of water of the Yamuna was being used and the remaining 75 per cent had been flowing waste to the ocean.

Therefore, it was necessary to construct these dams to have optimum use of the river water.
