ALAPPUZHA: The mystery surrounding the disappearance of seven-year-old Rahul has taken a new turn with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case now, turning the heat on a youth, Rojo, who is a neighbour of the missing child. The CBI has decided to make Rojo undergo a narco test and approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Ernakulam, for permission. He is likely to be taken to Bangalore for the test. Earlier he had undergone a polygraph test. The police sources said the former central zone DIG who investigated the case earlier had also opined that Rojo should be properly questioned. Rojo had been unable to provide convincing answers to the questions of the police.
Parents allege torture
Meanwhile, the parents of Rojo, at a press conference here on Saturday, said their son was being tortured by the CBI. They said they would cooperate with the investigation if they got an assurance that Rojo would not be needlessly tortured in future. Kalathil George, father of Rojo, noted that though the CBI had not termed Rojo as an accused in the case, the repeated questioning had done him serious harm. He lost his job because of the case. Mr. George said that an eight-year-old girl, Sandhya, cousin of Rahul, who played with him at a playground near their home from where he went missing, had told the public assembled before Rahul's house that the child had gone with a bearded man who used to come to his house.
'Question relatives'
Mr. George suggested that the police investigate the truth of that statement also. He urged the police to question the relatives of the missing child also.
