ELURU: The boisterous fishermen who forced the district administration to beat a retreat from launching its drive of dismantling the fish tanks by detaining a team of officials for several hours at Kokkirayalanka in Kolleru on Friday continued their agitation on Saturday too by staging a four-hour road roko at Gundukolanu. The scorching sun, the prohibitory orders in force under the Section 144 and the use of water canons by the police seemingly did have little effect on the protesters. However, traffic on the busy national highway was unaffected all through the programme due to the precautionary measures initiated by the top brass of the administration. Traffic was diverted bypassing the Gundukolanu junction where the road roko was organised vehicles coming from Eluru via Denduluru and those coming from Tadepalligudem and Rajahmundry through Bhimadole Junction.
