HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy expressed regrets in the Assembly on Saturday following an objection by the Telugu Desam members. Speaking on the Governor's address, Dr. Reddy he claimed that the Government had maintained law and order without favour and prejudice. He recommended a CBI probe "within 12 hours" of Paritala Ravi's murder when the Telugu Desam alleged involvement of his son and a Minister, J. C. Diwakar Reddy. Turning emotional, he said none could imagine the mental agony he had undergone while ordering a CBI probe against his son. This was possible only with him and Telugu Desam people would not be able to do it even during the next `janma `(birth), he said raising his voice. In contrast, the TDP never responded to the Congress demand for a CBI probe when there was a bomb blast on the premises of Kodela Sivaprsada Rao and when M. V. Mysoora Reddy (now with Telugu Desam) was harassed. TDP members led by D. Umamaheswara Rao, rushed the podium in protest seeking an apology from him. Dr. Reddy said he had not used objectionable language but expressed regrets if anyone was hurt by gesticulations he might have made in the fit of emotion. Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy said he found no unparliamentary word and complimented the Dr. Reddy for upholding the dignity of the House by offering regrets.
