Los Angeles: Sweden-based Indian Daniel Chopra missed the cut, as the players shivered and were soaked in the rain on the second day of the Nissan Open golf tournament here. Chopra returned with three birdies and four bogeys for his first miss of 2006 while Arjun Atwal skipped the event. Sunshine gave way to iron-gray clouds in a matter of minutes, and then came the first drops of rain that soon turned steady and left several players drenched. From among those who made the cut, Tiger Woods was one of the many on the line at one-over and he had two bogeys on the last two holes, leaving him struggling. Woods who is battling flu missed an 8-foot par putt on the 18th and finished with a three-over 74 and ended at one-over and just made it. Rory Sabbatini, the leader, suffered too in the cold, but his scorecard did not and his six-under 65 ensured a four-shot lead at the end of a bizarre second day off Sunset Boulevard. He ran off five straight birdies around the turn and was at 10-under 132, four shots ahead of Thomas Levet (68) and Craig Barlow (69). Trevor Immelman aced the 16th hole and shot 70 to land in the group at 5-under 137 that included US Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman (70) and Lee Westwood of England. PTI
