Five years' RI for robbery
NEW DELHI:
A city court has sentenced a man to five years' rigorous imprisonment for robbing a train passenger after plying him with drug-laced biscuits at the Old Delhi Railway Station.
Additional Sessions Judge S C Rajan slapped a fine of Rs 3,700 on convict Dharmender after finding him guilty of robbery and causing hurt under the IPC and various sections of the Indian Railways Act.
The convict, on the night of October 16, 2004, befriended victim Megha Nand Jha near East Booking Hall of the Old Delhi Railway depot and offered him biscuits laced with the drug `Lorazepam' from a packet.
Jha fell unconscious after taking a bite or two. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused stripped him of his travelling bag and some cash. - PTI
