Bangalore: The Italian Government is planning to upgrade and expand its woodwork training institute in Bangalore, Italian Trade Commissioner to India Vittorio Mecozzi said.

Mr. Mecozzi told presspersons here on Sunday that the institute would be upgraded from the conventional and semi-automatic machinery to CNC-aided machine details. A group of technical instructors from here will be trained in Italy.

The institute was started in 2003 with the help of the Association of Italian Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMALL) and the Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests. It has so far trained over 1,200 artisans in woodwork offering them free course with different modules.
