Procedures set down for computation of marks, drawing up common merit list

CHENNAI:
The Tamil Nadu Government has notified the rules of the Tamil Nadu Regulation of Admission in Professional Courses 2006, which will be binding on professional admissions starting this year.
In a GO passed on Saturday, the Government set down procedures for computation of marks and drawing up the common merit list. The CET for non-State board students will be conducted by the Director of Government Examinations and not by the Anna University, as has been the existing practice.
For Std XII students from the State board, the merit list will be drawn by computing aggregate marks scored in the related subjects, including theory and practicals.
For those who have taken non-State board examinations and who have appeared for the common entrance examination, the computation will be done on the basis of aggregate marks scored "in an appropriate ratio" based on the State board syllabus. The marks scored in the CET would be relevant only for that year.
