Two BMP engineers assaulted

BANGALORE: Two women allegedly assaulted two executive engineers of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) and other engineering staff when the latter were carrying out repair work in Ward No 70 in Shantinagar on Saturday, as per an order of the Karnataka High Court.

Illegal structure

According to the police, Somashekar, Executive Engineer of Shanti Nagar Division 1, and his staff, who tried to demolish an illegal structure on the premises of a public toilet on 4th Cross, Shanti Nagar, two women allegedly assaulted them.

Mr. Somashekar and another Executive Engineer P.S. Ramesh, and Assistant Executive Engineers N.M. Shekarappa and P. Vishwanath, were injured in the attack.

The police said Chand Ataullah has put up the illegal structure.

The women are related to him, they added.

The BMP engineers were treated in a hospital, the police said.

The Ashok Nagar police have registered a case against the assaulters.
