Devagiri lifts championship in arts fete

Second consecutive victory for Devagiri; Farook College wins second place

TENHIPALAM: St. Joseph's College, Devagiri, lifted the overall championship at the Calicut University inter-zone arts festival that concluded here on Monday. This was the second consecutive victory for Devagiri.

At the time of going to press, Devagiri College had ensured the championship by scoring 111 points. Farook College, which had maintained supremacy in the university fine arts competitions till last year, was pushed to the second place with 78 points. Christ College, Irinjalakuda, scored 42 points, followed by Government College, Chittoor, with 37 points and Chembai Memorial Music College, Palakkad, with 31 points.

Sitara Krishnakumar of Farook College was adjudged Kalathilakam, scoring 11 points. She won the first prize in Kuchipudi and second prize in Bharatanatyam and classical music. Rasmi M. of Vaidyaratnam Memorial Ayurveda College, Ollur, scored 10 points. She won the first prize in Mohiniyattom and Bharatanatyam.

Anoop P. Bhaskaran of Chembai Memorial Music College, Palakkad, bagged the Pratibha title, scoring eight points.

Eastern musical (violin): Anoop P. Bhaskar (Chembai Memorial Music College, Palakkad).

Mapilapattu: Mohammed Shabir K. and party (EMEA College, Kondotty).

Jazz: Jobin P. Thomas (St. Thomas College, Thrissur).

Oppana (women): Soumya K.S. and party (S.N. College, Nattika).

Pookalam: Sunish K. (Government College, Kodanchery).

Classical music (men): Suresh Babu M.V. (Government College, Chittur).

Duff Mutt: Shakeer and party (Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur).

Group dance (men): Sumeesh N.V. and party (Christ College, Irinjalakuda).

English drama: Arun Jyothish K. and party (St. Joseph's College, Devagiri).

Hindi drama: Mathew James and party (St. Joseph's College, Devagiri).

Group dance (women): Grace Maria J. and party (St. Joseph's College, Devagiri).

Instrumental western (harmonium): Vivek V.S. (School of Drama and Fine Arts, Thrissur).

Mono act: Vinitha D. (Christ College, Irinjalakuda).

Classical music (women): Sree Ranjini K.A. (Government College, Chittoor).

Western music (string): Jitin Das (Farook College).

Mime drama: Ajeesha Soman and party (St. Joseph's College, Irinjalakuda).

Triple drum: Ratheesh K.T. (Chembai Memorial Music School, Palakkad).

Fancy dress: Deepa R. Nair (RSMSNDP College, Koyilandy).

Mimicry: Nikhil C.K. (MPMMSNT College, Shoranur).
