It is not always that a politician takes up the pen. Not for writing petitions or signing files, but to write poems. John P. Mani, former president of Ernakulam District Panchayat, has done exactly that. Mr. Mani's book is titled, `(a + b)2 = pottatha pappadam.' "The book is a collection of my thoughts on various subjects, which took the form of poems," Mani says. The poems are divided into six parts, and cover every imaginable subject, from tsunami to vanilla. Mani had also served as the chairman of District Planning Committee and vice-president of District Panchayat.
