These are good times for fishermen, with the demand for fish going up in the wake of bird flu. Demand of chicken has slumped following the incidence of bird flu in Maharashtra. While the District Collector has decided against banning chicken meat, as there no sign of the dreaded flu in the State, people seem to have said a big no to chicken. When tsunami hit, people stopped eating fish. Now it is the turn of chicken. Eggs too are being looked at with suspicion, as there is little information forthcoming about the safety of eating eggs. The State has decided to stop distributing eggs to schoolchildren as a precautionary measure. This has definitely sent a signal for all to follow suit.
