WINNERS ALL: The group dance team of St. Joseph's College, Devagiri, which stood first in the Calicut University inter-zone arts festival.
St. Joseph's College, Devagiri, has won the overall championship in the inter-zone Calicut University arts festival for the second consecutive time. Last year when the college secured the title, it broke the Farook College winning spree for the continuous five years in a row. Last year it was a close battle. This year, the college was far ahead with 126 points as against 78 points of Farook College. The path of victory is not a shortcut, but one built on careful planning and strategy. Joseph Vayalil, Principal of the college has been the source of inspiration behind the victory. He attributes the victory to the hard work put in by the students, ably assisted by a dedicated faculty. Among the college's victory, its achievement of three firsts in Malayalam, Hindi and English drama is notable. The college, which went to the festival with a 147-strong team, also bagged the best actors title in Malayalam (Jojin Joseph) and Hindi drama (Mathew James) and the best actress title (Divya Krishna) in English.
