No assurance given to Karunakaran, says Vellappally

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that he did not give any assurance on Yogam support to the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) leader K. Karunakaran during their recent meeting.

Talking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he said that in the given political situation in the State, there was no relevance for a third front.

``The SNDP Yogam cannot keep changing sides like the DIC(K).'' In the Assembly election, anyone found appeasing minority communities will get defeated, he added.

He alleged that the United Democratic Front had made an attempt to torpedo the unity move initiated by the Yogam in the majority community. Though the Nairs and Ezhavas stand slightly disturbed now it is only at the peripheral level. The rank and file are still united. The Yogam will register its opposition to any attempt to hike the reservation percentage of the Muslim community.
