Staff Reporter

MUMBAI: The sessions court here on Tuesday remanded suspended police officer Daya Nayak and co-accused Rajendra Padte to police custody till March 1. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has alleged that as an encounter specialist Nayak had accumulated wealth and assets beyond the scope of his income.

After a month of several court hearings, the two surrendered on Monday. They were sent to police custody following the rejection of their bail applications. Additional Public Prosecutor submitted before Judge S.P. Mahajan that the ACB would take precautions relating to Nayak's security.

The Bombay High Court had granted bail to Nayak's wife Komal.
