HUBLI: Jagadish Shettar and his wife were given a grand welcome on their first visit to the city after Mr. Shettar took charge as Revenue Minister under the new coalition Government.

Supporters of Mr. Shettar and BJP leaders from the region had gathered in large numbers for more than an hour at Bankapur Chowk in the city to give their leader a warm welcome.

Bursting of crackers and shouting of slogans filled the air. Mr. Shettar was taken in a procession in an open jeep to the Moorusavira Math where he sought the blessings of Sri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swamiji.

He was then taken to Sri Siddharoodha Math.

After seeking the blessings of Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji, the Minister visited the Durgadevi temple at Bengeri before reaching his residence.

Several people from villages in the Hubli Rural Constituency, which Mr. Shettar represents in the Assembly, were there to greet him.
