Colombo: Indian opener Cheteshwar Pujara emerged as the leading scorer with 349 runs in the under-19 World Cup which concluded here on Sunday. He finished with an average of 116.33 in the tournament. The right-hander polled nine votes during the course of the tournament to finish two points clear of the Bangladesh duo of captain Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Mehrab Hossain. Behind them were seven players on six points, including Anwer Ali Khan of Pakistan, who moved into that group after his man of the match performance in the final against India when he took five for 35 to spearhead his side's 38-run win. Pujara's tally included an unbeaten 129 against the West Indies in the Super League quarterfinal one of only five hundreds in the 44 matches played and he received a crystal trophy for topping the batting chart. Another Indian who made a mark at the tournament was Gaurav Dhiman who had the best strike-rate. His 222 runs were scored at 125.42 runs per hundred balls. UNI
