Sanjay stars in Jawahar SC's romp

HYDERABAD: Striker Sanjay scored a hat-trick to fashion Jawahar Soccer Club's impressive 5-0 win against Satyanarayana Memorial Football Club in the Ranga Reddy district league football championship here on Tuesday.

Sanjay struck in the 10th, 25th and 30th minutes of the first-half. In the second session, Amit was on target twice with fine solo efforts and completed the rout.

In other matches, Vivekanandapuram and Sashidharan Club got walkovers from Bhavan's Ramakrishna Vidyalaya and HCL respectively.

The super league featuring Alwal Youth Club, Valluvarnagar, Kamala Nehru Nagar and Jawahar Soccer Club (which has replaced A.P. Sports School since it pulled out in view of examinations) will commence from Wednesday.

Paramveer shines

A good all-round show by Paramveer Singh, who claimed four for 45 and then struck 40, helped SA Sports draw with Deccan Chronicle in the A-Division league cricket championship on Tuesday.

The scores: Deccan Chronicle 193 (M. Sudhakar Rao 65, Paramveer Singh four for 45) drew with SA Sports, Amberpet, 196 for seven (Sai Raj 84, Paramveer Singh 40).

Susheel cracks ton

A fine century by Susheel (102 not out) helped Capco score a comfortable 76-run win against Satwik in the Friendship Cup corporate cricket tournament.

The scores: Talwar Hyundai 213 for six (Dharmesh 69, Vinod 46) bt Polaris 130 for six (Kiran 47 not out); Airtel 201 for seven (Preetam 63, Govrang 55) bt Guzzlers 162; Capco 190 for three (Susheel 102 not out, Kunal 56 retd) bt Satwik 114; Cistron 153 for eight lost to Spoorthi 154 for seven (Muran 45).

Hyderabad 10K races

TCS wins cup

Tata Consultancy Services has won the TCS Cup corporate tennis tournament organised by Sportz Mantra defeating Clause Tezier India 2-0 in the final.

The results: (final): TCS bt Clause Tezier India 2-0, Somal bt Rama Rao 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; Pratyush bt Julian Meliet 6-4, 6-2.

PET seminar begins

The three-week orientation seminar-cum-training programme for physical education teachers of Government schools in the Telangana region formally commenced at the GMC Balayogi Stadium. Prof. Chinnappa Reddy, technical advisor to Government, stressed on the important role of PETs in the promotion of sports and spotting of young talent across the State. SAAP VC & MD G. Kamala Vardhana Rao said that the foremost objective of PETs should be to spot genuine talent at school-level and groom them in a desired manner.

The PETs will be given practical training in the four select disciplines of basketball, volleyball, athletics and hockey by qualified coaches at the venue over the next three weeks.

Ten share lead

Top ranked M. Srinivasa Rao along with Asiad medal winner V.A.V. Rajesh, M.V. Pankaj Lahari and 10 others share the lead at the end of second round of a State-level open chess tournament in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

Twenty-six players with international rating are participating in the tournament being organised by the Visakha Chess Academy. The tournament has attracted entries from 14 districts.

Football league

Sampath Memorial F.C. defeated Steel Plant 1-0 thanks to a goal scored by K. Ramachandra Rao in the fag end of the match, in the district football league in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
