YSR asks officials to complete RWS works by June
Special correspondent
Hyderabad:
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has directed the officials to complete all pending Rural Water Supply (RWS) schemes before June this year.
Reviewing the work on RWS-NABARD projects with Minister for Rural Development, D. Srinivas, the Chief Minister on Tuesday expressed concern at the tardy progress of the works.
44 ongoing projects
Work on the 44 ongoing projects should be completed before this summer so that drinking water shortage would not hit the villages, he said.
Principal secretary M. Samuel briefed the Chief Minister on the status of 584 projects sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 616 crores in 2001. In all, 91 per cent of the projects had been completed at a cost of Rs. 347 crores so far. A project-wise schedule had been prepared, he said.
Jeevan Dhara scheme
The Chief Minister said `Ambedkar Jeevan Dhara Scheme' envisaged to provide drinking water facility to 4,306 SC habitations should be implemented with a missionary zeal and if needed this could be clubbed with the Indiramma programme for better results.
