Train capacity augmented

NEW DELHI: For the convenience of passengers, Northern Railway has decided to add one additional A.C. chair car coach to the 3413/3414 and 3483/3484 Malda Town-Delhi Junction Farakka Express with immediate effect.

The capacity of the 4033/4034 Delhi-Jammu Tawi Jammu Mail train has also been augmented by the addition of one AC coach.

Rights violation can be checked: L-G

NEW DELHI: Lieutenant-Governor B. L. Joshi on Tuesday said violation of human rights could be checked if the fundamental duties prescribed in the Constitution were adhered to along with the fundamental rights.

Addressing a national seminar on human rights, Mr. Joshi said the police should be very clear that only the right to free movement was curtailed when a person was arrested.

The Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, Umesh Katna, and Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti vice-president Bharat Bhushan were among those who attended the seminar.

B.C. Roy Award

NEW DELHI: Dr. N. K. Pandey, Executive Director and Head of the Department of Surgery at Escorts Hospital and Research Centre, Faridabad, has been nominated for the B.C. Roy Award.

The award is given in recognition of the best talent in encouraging development of specialities in different branches of medicine.

Medical workshop

New Delhi: A two-day conference-cum workshop on lifestyle diseases was held here over the weekend. Organised by Medical Fitness Society, experts in the field of medicine, nutrition and fitness addressed the conference on lifestyle diseases like high blood pressure diabetes and heart diseases, according to Society Secretary Dr. Rajiv Garg.

Health camp organised

NEW DELHI: To make people aware of the importance of health and fitness, Eleganza Rejuvenation Clinic organised a health camp at its Rajouri Garden premises here over the weekend.

A large number of people inquisitive about various aspects of health and beauty attended the camp, brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Dr. V.S. Malik and Dr. Seema Malik.

Dharna for DA

NEW DELHI: The All-India Defence Civilian Canteen Employees Union staged a dharna at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday to press their demands for release of dearness allowance and restoration of pay and allowance at par with Government employees.

All-India Forward Bloc general secretary Debabrata Biswas and CPI secretary D. Raja addressed the rally.
