Fog hits flight operations
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
Thick fog on Tuesday morning brought flight operations to a standstill for almost four hours at the domestic as well as international terminal of the Indira Gandhi International Airport here. Two international flights and four domestic flights were diverted and several others delayed forcing passengers to wait for a long time at the airport.
"Fog set in at 5-30 a.m. and thereafter there were no operations till about 9 a.m. The CAT III B instrument landing system could not be put into space as some of the equipment had gone for maintenance,'' said an official.
Passengers travelling by no-frill airlines were the worst hit, with early morning flights being pushed back to much later.
