Power cut orders issued

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The power cut is now official.

The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh has issued formal orders, asking the four distribution companies to implement a two-hour power cut a day in the rural areas and minor towns.

All villages and towns in an area will not suffer from the cut at a time. They will be divided into groups feeder-wise and the cut to each group will be by rotation.

The order asked the companies to implement the cut at the 11/33 KV level with a view to preserving water storage in the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar dams both to meet summer demand and drinking water supply. The two-hour cut will have to be implemented anytime between 6 am and 6 pm, the order said.
