Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Tondiarpet, Thiruvottiyur and Nungambakkam areas on Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

On Thursday, power supply will be suspended in parts of V.O.C. Nagar, Whites Road, Kondithope, Purasawalkam, Saidapet West, Thiruvottiyur, Velachery and Ayanavaram on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Traffic diversion

in Tondiarpet

The City Traffic police have announced traffic diversions on Vaidhyanathan Street in Tondiarpet following the conversion of the road into a concrete one.

A press release from the police said vehicles on Tiruvottiyur High Road heading to Vaidhyanathan Bridge will now go through Vaidhyanathan Street, Seniamman Koil Street, Kailasam Street and Ilayamudhali Street.

Similarly in the opposite direction, the vehicles will go through Ilayamudhali Street, Kamarajar Salai and Arunachaleswarar Koil Street to reach Tiruvottiyur High Road, the release added.

SBI donation towards classroom

The State Bank of India has come forward to donate Rs. 3 lakhs towards the construction of classroom at the Ramakrishna Mission Matriculation Higher Secondary School in T. Nagar.

The bank's chief general manager P. Chaudhuri will hand over the cheque to the Mission's secretary Swami Padmasthananda on Wednesday.

inaugurated

Abirami Ramanathan, general secretary, Film Federation of India, inaugurated the cultural activities of Agurchand Manmull Jain College in Meenambakkam recently.

Mobility aids for

the disabled

The Indian Red Cross Society will distribute mobility aids including calipers, tricycles and wheel chairs to 116 physically disabled persons on Thursday.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment are sponsoring the aids.

Dr. Sarojini Varadappan will preside over the function organised at Red Cross office on Montieth Road, Egmore.

Personality development

The Department of Computer Applications, Rajalakshmi Engineering College conducted a personality development programme for students of MCA and B.E. (Computer Science). V.T.Giridhar, CEO, Cortex Consultants, spoke on "personal efficacy programme."

Women's empowerment through

meditation

Value Education Club of Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College for Women recently organised a lecture on "empowerment of women through meditation."

Sister Ranjani of Brahmakumari and Iswariya Vishwa Vidyalaya spoke.
