CHENNAI: Six days after a devastating fire accident, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) staff have restored all the 12,000 affected lines in Kellys exchange of Chennai Telephones, on Tuesday. A Chennai Telephones press note said that "as a result of its painstaking efforts," the BSNL has been successful in carrying out 100 per cent restoration of the Kellys exchange that was damaged in the fire on February 15. While the Redhills and Madhavaram RSUs were restored much earlier, the remaining 8,787 lines of the Kellys E 10B exchange have been restored completely as on Tuesday. The lines that were working in this exchange have now been shifted to the existing as well as the augmented 4.5k OCB and 5 ESS switches, the release added.
Customers reassured
The restored lines have been done on STD `open condition' and hence STD subscribers should re-register their password using the standard procedure. Value added services such as DTMF (fast dialling), morning alarm, and dynamic lock of level `9' for non-STD customers are now offered from new switches.
