30 more agree to

hand over land

KOCHI: The District Collector has said that 30 more people have come forward agreeing to hand over land for the Smart City project. Earlier, 24 persons had expressed their willingness to hand over the land. The Collector said that recommendations would soon be sent to the Government after scrutinising the list. These people expressed their willingness to hand over the land on the basis of certain guidelines adopted by the Government. - Staff Reporter

Advocate association's plea to Chief Justice

Kochi: The Kerala High Court Advocates Association on Tuesday requested Chief Justice V.K. Bali to relocate all courts except the Chief Justice's Court up to the third floor of the new High Court building to avoid the inconveniences being experienced by the lawyers and advocate clerks. The courts are now functioning in seven floors of the building. In a resolution, the Association said that the lawyers were even prepared to forgo the luxury of lifts which would save huge amounts by way of electricity charges, if the courts were relocated on the first, second and third floors. - Staff Reporter

boat fare hike

KOCHI: The forum formed to protest against the hike in the ferry charge between Fort Kochi and Vypeen from Re.1 to Rs.2, took out a march to the office of the Corporation of Cochin on Tuesday. The march was inaugurated by CPI (ML) district secretary T.C. Subramanian. - Staff Reporter

Demand to ban Kalavayal

KOCHI: The Bharatiya Go Vamsarakshana and Samvardhana Parishad has demanded that the District Administration take steps to ban Kakkur Kalavayal proposed to be held in the first week of March. The organisation has said that the event is being organised in violation of rules regarding cruelty towards animals. - Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Yuva Milap, a national meeting of youth, has been held at the Government Youth Hostel, Thrikkakkara, Inaugurating the meet, K.
