HYDERABAD: District Collector Arvind Kumar's attempts to set right the mandal-level civic administration began here on Tuesday with a visit to the Charminar Mandal Revenue office, where he reviewed the functioning of various departments and received petitions from the public. Mr. Arvind Kumar, who will henceforth visit each MRO office once in every six months to enable people lodge their complaints personally, noticed that around 1,000 of 3,240 beneficiaries of the old age pension were not receiving the pensions for the last six months, following which he directed officials to collect details of the beneficiaries of pensions under the Old Age, Widow and Physically Handicapped categories and to set right the anomalies.
Unrecognised schools
He warned 26 unrecognised schools in the mandal that they would be closed unless they obtained necessary permissions before the forthcoming academic year. Parents were also requested not to admit their wards in unrecognised schools. The Collector, who assured the public that all pending cases regarding Government lands would be settled expeditiously, also reviewed the activities of the District Minorities Finance Corporation.
