Staff Reporter

Offers to share evidence available with it with the authorities

Hyderabad: The Muttehada Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), a joint action committee, comprising several parties and religious organisations, demanded that the Government order an independent inquiry into the Friday's violent incidents at Charminar. It offered to share the evidence available with it with the authorities.

The MMA met here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of noted Islamic scholar, Moulana Hameeduddin Aquil Husami. Majlis president Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and ohters attended the meeting. The meeting was of the opinion that the February 17 incidents were the handiwork of those who wanted to tarnish the image of the Mecca Masjid. Some police officers colluded, the MMA felt.
