Coimbatore: The Bangalore-based private agency entrusted with the work for issue of Electors' Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in Coimbatore has assured to commence the work by the end of this week and 90 per cent of the left out electorate would get their cards shortly. A release from the District Election Officer and Collector, S. Kosalaraman, said that 16,81,047 voters spread over 15 Assembly segments, including Dharapuram in Erode district, were yet to get the voter ID cards. The district administration was preparing a computerised list of such voters and would be handed over to the agency shortly. Based on the list, the agency would distribute forms to the voters.
Laminated cards
The voters would have to duly sign the forms and take it to the designated photographic centres on the scheduled dates. The cards would be prepared, laminated and handed over to the voters within 30 minutes, the release added.
