Woman found murdered

Devesh K. Pandey

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old woman from Jharkhand who had allegedly been trafficked through the Capital to a village at Jind in Haryana was brutally done to death on Monday purportedly by the man she had been living with.

Tripala was a resident of Dandi in Ranchi. While it is not yet clear who `brought' her to Jind, the police said she had been living with one Ajmer Singh for the past eight months in Dohla village. Ajmer's father Om Prakash told the police that his son had married Tripala.

Around 3-30 p.m. on Monday when they were working in the fields, an argument broke out between them over some issue, following which Ajmer allegedly overpowered Tripala and slit her throat with a grass-cutter. Realising that she was dead, Ajmer fled. The Nagru police post of the village was informed of the incident about an hour later. Subsequently a murder case was registered and a hunt launched.
