SINGAPORE: S. Rajaratnam, hailed as one of Singapore's founding fathers, died on Wednesday. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong conveyed condolences to the bereaved family over the sad loss to the country. Foreign Minister George Yeo said, "Singapore has lost a giant." He said Mr. Rajaratnam had, as the first Foreign Minister, helped "transform us into a global city" by making many friends. In a "profound contribution to the nation," he shaped the foreign policy of the City-State and became "one of the pioneers of ASEAN."
