KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode Abdul Khader Memorial Committee on Tuesday said that it was even ready to take legal action against producer, director and music director of yet-to-be released film `Nottam' for "messing up" the song `Pacha panamthathe... .' Reacting to the remarks of music director M. Jayachandran on a private TV channel recently that the song was not tuned by noted music director M.S. Baburaj nor was it rendered by Kozhikode Abdul Khader for the drama `Nammalonnu' by Cherukad, the committee members, including Najmal Babu, singer and son of Khader, and Jabbar Baburaj, son of Baburaj, said this was a case of ignoring the artistes of the past. The original lyrics for the drama was written by Ponkunnam Damodaran. In fact, Damodaran got the award for the best lyrics in the recent State film award for the song. The committee members questioned the logic behind conferring an award for the best lyrics for Damodaran for the work done a few decades back and that too posthumously. They alleged that there was a conspiracy behind conferring the award. Mr. Jayachandran should at least have given a courtesy to Baburaj and Khader, the members said.
