Work on gopuram to be over before Thrissur Pooram

Thrissur: The construction of the gopuram of Sree Vadakkunatha Temple will be completed before Thrissur Pooram, Cochin Devaswom Board president M.A. Krishnannunni has said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Krishnannunni said that construction projects costing Rs.5 crores were being implemented inside the temple. A sum of Rs.5 crores would be spent for construction activities outside the sanctum sanctorum. The Kokkarni and Ana Samrakshana Kendra would be renovated at a cost of Rs.60 lakhs, Mr. Krishnanunni said. A decorative gopuram would be constructed at Thriprayar Sreerama Temple next March. Accommodation facilities for pilgrims would be improved. The temple's revenue would be boosted by increasing the cost of `Vedi Vazhipadu' offering, Mr. Krishnanunni said.
