BANGALORE: New Baldwin Residential School, Dodda Banaswadi, celebrated its annual day at Ambedkar Bhavan here recently. In the celebrations held over two days, the schoolchildren presented various dance forms and a fusion dance based on the patriotic theme, Unity in diversity, which brought loud cheers from the gathering. Former Minister Krishnappa and actor Anu Prabhakar were the chief guests. Venugopal, founder secretary of the institution, welcomed the gathering.
`Jyothi Daan'
NOSTALGIA WAS in the air at the "Jyothi Daan" ceremony conducted by the Oxford Senior Secondary School (CBSE) for its outgoing students of standards X and XII on Friday. It was a day of mixed emotions for the 126 graduating students. The programme began with the handing of the "Lamp of knowledge" by the class teachers of standards X and XII to the outgoing students. This was followed the reading of verses from the scriptures. School principal Mariamma C. George administered the pledge. In his "Jyothi Daan" message, Ramesh Raju, executive director of the institution, asked the students to "enter life with dignity and devotion".
Graduation day
BALDWIN GIRLS' School and Baldwin Boys' School bid a fond farewell to their outgoing students of Standard X at a combined function on Saturday. For the students, the programme was special as they were graduating in the 125th year of the institution. The combined function was held after 25 years. In her mantle oration, Reecha Das said the school has helped them become multifaceted individuals. Rt. Rev. S. V. Sampath Kumar, Bishop, Methodist Church of India told the students that transition in life is important. Dorothy Sampath Kumar, President, Deaconesses' Conferences, released the souvenir. K.J.N. Karunakaran, Principal, Baldwin Boys' School, welcomed the gathering.
Annual day
SHANTHINIKETHAN SCHOOL, Bhadrappa Layout, celebrated its annual day, "Revue 2006", recently. Students who had excelled in curricular and extra-curricular activities were felicitated at the function. Children presented folk, tribal, dhandiya and bhangra dances. They also presented a fashion show.
