Tatkal berths available

Tatkal berths are available in second sleeper class in the following trains: Bangalore-Kanyakumari Express (6526), Mysore-Kumbakonam Express (6232), Bangalore-Kolhapuri Rani Chennamma Express (6589), Bangalore-Kachiguda Express (7686), Bangalore-Trivandrum Express (6321).

Silk Mark festival

The Silk Mark Organisation of India, in association with Central Silk Board, organised the Silk Mark Festival in the city on Wednesday. Participants of the festival that began on December 24 were felicitated on the occasion. Over 23 retailers had taken part in the festival. Actress Shruti was the chief guest. She, along with H. Basker, chairman of Silk Mark Organisation; Vandana Kumar, chief executive officer of Silk Mark Organisation; J. Sampath, Joint Director (Publicity); and T. Shivkumar, executive of Silk Mark, inaugurated the function.

Legal cell opened

The office of the Commissioner along with the Alternative Law Forum will provide free legal services for the differently abled every Wednesday from 2 p.m.. For details, call 25482639.

Workshop

The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry will organise a workshop on "Analysis of indirect tax proposals of the Union Budget 2006-07" on March 2 at Hotel Grand Ashok. A fee of Rs. 800 will be charged. For details, call 22262355.

Held for murder

The Girinagar police have arrested eight persons who had allegedly kidnapped and murdered a man with criminal antecedents, Rama alias Tractor Rama, on January 13. The names of the arrested were given as Gurumurthy (24), Chetan (22), Babu (24), Manjunath (23), Prathap (19), Anand (20), Manjunath (20) and Drum Manjunath (20). The police have seized a car, a van and lethal weapons from the accused.
