Letters to the Editor
The controversy over U.S. Ambassador David Mulford's remarks seems to have been put to rest with the Prime Minister ruling out his recall. Mr. Mulford's actions may reflect more power than wisdom, but sadly that is not unusual on the world's political stage. From Washington to Teheran and Tel Aviv, there is a pitiful lack of statesmen and an overabundance of rhetoric. For someone to bully the proud democracy of India makes no more sense than for other leaders to deny the Holocaust or yet others to deny thousands of poor Palestinians the right to food, basic health care and education. But do not lose hope. Some Americans care about the rest of the world far more than the value of a vote or a gallon of oil.
