CPI(M) supports demand for wage board

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Communist Party of India (Marxist) came out in support of the demand of journalists and employees of the print media for constitution of a wage board.

In a statement, the Polit Bureau said the Government should without delay announce the setting up of a wage board. The Government should also set up a media commission to look into the entire gamut of the media from print to electronic.

``This is necessary in view of the entry of foreign media and the conditions of journalists and workers and the various issues which have been thrown up by the expansion of the media. The commission should also look into the condition of journalists and employees'' the statement said.
