Viral fever spreads in Anantapur district

ANANTAPUR: In spite of claims of taking measures to contain the spread of viral fever, which has already assumed epidemic proportions, the district administration is yet to come to grips with the communicable disease, recently identified as `chickun guniya'. Officially, it has now spread to 35 villages in 12 mandals.

Officials of the medical and health department have put the total cases reported at 880, so far, since the first week of January.

But the unofficial estimates put the number of sufferers at10,000.
