Colonial stride

Mandira Nayar

NEWDELHI: It has moved beyond Shakespeare to embrace new lingo. Turning tables on the English language in the global world, the future of the Queen's English will now be determined by her colonies. Bringing to the fore these ironies and much more is David Graddol's new book, "English Next". A linguist, Graddol explores the future of the language that unites the world. The book will be released at the British Council in New Delhi this coming Monday.
