Private colleges will help Government, says Minister
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya on Thursday sought to allay apprehensions among students seeking admission to professional courses, and said representatives of unaided private colleges have come forward to help the Government resolve the issue.
Addressing presspersons, Dr. Acharya said the representatives of college managements met him on Wednesday and assured him that they are ready to cooperate with the Government once the seat matrix and the fee structure are ready. He hoped the process of admissions will be completed without delay this year. Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is keen on taking steps to help students, he added.
On the progress with regard to opening six government medical colleges, Dr. Acharya said that except in the case of the Bidar medical college, construction of buildings for other colleges is progressing. A team from the Medical Council of India will visit the colleges in April, he said and hoped the buildings will be ready in about three months.
He said the problem of finding teachers for the colleges continues.
