ONGOLE: Research is on all over the world to prevent the misuse of passports by anti-social elements, according to B. Balabhaskar, Regional Passport Officer, Hyderabad. Speaking to newspersons here on Thursday, he said the number of applicants for passport was increasing every year due to employment opportunities abroad. As many as 2,000 persons apply for passport at Hyderabad every day and the Regional Passport Office was issuing 1,500 passports after due verification. He said passports were being issued within 45 days if the applications were received with favourable report from the district headquarters.
Plea to applications
He asked the applicants to furnish correct address, educational qualifications and date of birth so that it would be easy for the passport officials to process them. Even a minor variation in the details recorded in the passport would lead to denial of immigration, he observed. Mr. Balabhaskar said he came to Prakasam district to dispel misgivings over getting passports through middlemen.
