Even as the district administration has announced an `win a gold coin' contest to propagate government schemes among the public, Transport Minister R. Viswanathan, has joined hands in the mega campaign, offering two-and-a-half sovereigns. The Minister plans to give away one sovereign for the first prize winner and half-a-sovereign each for two second rankers and a quarter-sovereign each for two third rankers as an initiative to rope in more competitors. Mr. Viswanathan made this announcement at the inaugural function of a new hostel meant for backward class girls in Gopalpatti near Dindigul on Thursday. The contest would be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Dudley Higher Secondary School in Dindigul. Questions would be asked on the basis of information given in the book, which was distributed at the exhibition organised by the Department of Public Relations near Sri Kottai Mariamman Temple in Dindigul.
