LUCKNOW: High temperatures across Uttar Pradesh may signify an early start of a scorching summer. The mercury has soared to a 43-year high in the State capital. Lucknow recorded a day time temperature of 35.2 degree celsius yesterday, the highest for any February day as against a maximum temperature of 34.2 degree celsius registered on February 16, 1963, State Met Director R K Verma told UNI here today. Generally, pleasant temperatures hovering between 26-28 degrees has been experienced in February across the state for the last many years. The spring climate this year has undergone a dramatic change with hot westerlies from Rajasthan and Arabian Sea causing the abnormal rise in maximum temperatures in the State, Mr Verma said. - UNI
