Cartoons in Danish newspaper condemned
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
The Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker, Shoaib Iqbal, on Thursday condemned the publication of Prophet Mohammad cartoons in a Danish newspaper. He also criticised the British artist who reportedly depicted Lord Rama and Sita on tissue papers of a company.
Mr. Iqbal said freedom of expression did not give anybody the licence to hurt the religious sentiments of any community. "The Government of India should break not only diplomatic relations with the countries where such activities are being carried out but also financial transactions with them. We should boycott the goods manufactured by these countries in order to give them a befitting reply for the sin that has been committed by them," he added.
The Janata Dal (S) leader said the Union Government should intervene in the matter so that such things do not occur again
