No more the favourite

Navapur town in Maharashtra is 400 km north of Mumbai. From Hyderabad, it is aeons away. Yet, the bird flu rumours that began there have shaken the twin cities like never before.

Poultry markets have been badly hit with retail outlets and restaurants in the State Capital, reporting steep fall in demand for chicken and egg.

Barring some defiant souls, the rest have left it overnight, refusing to touch the chicken even with a long spoon! Sad but true.
