An act of honesty by CISF cop

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: In a display of rare honesty, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable posted at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here handed over a polythene bag with $3,000 in cash to a passenger who had completely forgotten about the bag.

The constable, Dalbir Singh, is being given a cash reward by CISF for his honesty.

The incident occurred last week when Kamini Talwar, a passenger on Jet flight to Mumbai, forgot to collect a plastic bag with $3,000 in cash and two files after it had been screened.

Noticing that the bag had been left abandoned, Singh made an announcement asking passengers to come forward to claim it. However, when no one claimed it for a while, seeing the baggage tag, it was deduced which flight the passenger would be on and an announcement was made on the Jet Airways Mumbai flight.

Thereafter, Ms Talwar got in touch with the airline staff and CISF personnel regarding her bag and the same was handed over to her upon proper verification.
