Demand to enforce villages protection Act

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Describing the state of affairs in all urbanised and rural villages of Delhi as very pathetic and employment resources of the villagers being destroyed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi without any consideration for human aspects, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan has demanded that the Delhi Villages Protection and Development Act be enforced for all-round development of villages in the Capital.

In a statement, Dr. Vardhan observed that villages of Delhi are lagging behind due to lack of basic civic amenities. Since the laws and by-laws for the villages were made during British rule and thereafter by MCD, he said, they have lost their relevance now.

"The Government machinery is exploiting and adopting corrupt practices against the villagers due to these age-old by-laws thereby blocking their path of development."
