VISAKHAPATNAM: Election Commission of India's Observer S.K. Mendiratta and Secretary Tapash Kumar on Friday went round several areas of the Visakhapatnam-I Assembly constituency to look into allegations of malpractice committed by contestants during the campaign and on polling day (Feb. 19). They also met the contestants and listened to their versions. They asked people if money and liquor was distributed by the political parties and were there any clashes and disturbances. Nowhere did the people say that voters were given money except at one place a person told the officials that both parties had distributed money to the voters but a group of women in the same locality said they were not aware of voters having been given inducements.
