New Delhi: Santoor maestro Shivkumar Sharma and tabla maestro Zakir Husain will enthral Delhiites at a classical music concert of evening ragas being organised by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in collaboration with Star India Private Limited and SPIC MACAY at Nehru Park this Sunday. The "Evening Ragas" will have Ustad Zakir Husain showing to the audience why he is considered the best in the field. He is one of the youngest musicians to have been awarded a Padma Shri and more recently the Padma Bhushan. Also performing at the "music in the park" programme will be Pandit Shivkumar Sharma who is one of the few maestros to enjoy a global reputation. He has done a lot of non-classical work by joining hands with Pandit Hariparasad Chaurasia to score music for Hindi films under the Shiv-Hari banner. "Pandit Shivkumar Sharma has had training in music from his father and is a learned vocalist and percussionist in his own right. He has won a number of national and international honours including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Hafiz Ali Khan Award," noted an NDMC spokesperson.
